"Now the weather's a bit brighter, people seem to be buying mopeds thick and fast with CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) riders throwing their machines around the roads. Unfortunately some of these riders seem to have forgotten the skills they were taught on their CBT courses. I stopped one young rider this month who decided to alter his moped to make it louder and more of a street fighter style, which made it completely illegal. Not only did he have an incorrect index plate but the fumes coming from the machine were enough for me to stop him and give him the appropriate advice."
