Fog

Fog

Riding in fog is particularly dangerous. It lowers your perception of speed and potential risks are increased because of reduced visibility. Most bikers tend to ride closer to other vehicles in fog so that they can keep sight of their lights.

When out on your bike in fog.

  • Remember to be able to stop in the distance that you can see to be clear and adjust your speed according to the density of the fog and not the speed of the vehicle in front
  • Be aware of freezing fog as this will increase the mist and spray on your visors and further reduce visibility
  • Use anti mist sprays and treatments to help minimise this or, if you reduce your speed enough, slightly open your visor
  • It can be extremely tiring so be aware of the signs of fatigue and stop if you feel tired
